Abruzzo, new trains for tourism: they are named after Amarena and Juan Carrito bears
The interior of the train

It will bear the name of Amarena and Juan Carrito, mother bear and son symbols of Abruzzo, both of whom died tragically, the new tourist train that Tua, Abruzzo's sole transportation company, unveiled in recent days at the new station in Lanciano, Chieti. Red carpets, Frau faux-leather armchairs, silk curtains, paintings and porcelain, ceiling lights with indirect lighting, a real living room to accompany tourists to the most picturesque corners of Abruzzo, in a cozy and comfortable environment, to the point of recalling the luxury of the Orient Express.
The three ALn776 trains will always travel together, with 210 total seats, intended for both regional and extra-regional rail tourism. Tua purchased the three engines in the summer of 2023 from the former Ferrovie Centrali Umbre, now Busitalia, at a price of 195 thousand euros, anticipating competition from other national rail carriers. The trainsets have completed maintenance and overhaul at the Torre Madonna workshops in Lanciano. Abruzzo tourism has one more way to go. The rail road, those tracks that wind through Abruzzo's natural beauty and will host TUA's tourist trains.
The trains are named after Amarena and Juan Carrito, Abruzzo's most iconic and well-known bears.
There are several new features on the new train sets: from the livery, inspired by the colors of the Treno della Valle, the historic colored train operating on the historic network from Lanciano to Castel di Sangro, the red leather seats, and the images of regional scenic beauty featured in the various areas of the trainsets. Not only that: carpeting, curtains, new ceiling lights with indirect lighting, air conditioning system, sound diffusion. In short, a real lounge to accompany tourists to the most picturesque corners while observing the beauty of the area from the window.
