"Photographing the park," nature in the most beautiful shots: here are the winners

On Saturday, March 9, at the Testori Auditorium of Palazzo Lombardia in Milan, the winners of the 17th International Competition "Photographing the Park." will be awarded. Organized by the National Parks of Gran Paradiso, Stelvio, d'Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise and de la Vanoise -- under the patronage of Alparc, Federparchi and the media partnership of La Rivista della Natura -- the contest attracted more than 380 photographers this year who submitted more than 2,700 photographs, revealing a growing interest among landscape and nature enthusiasts. In addition to the award ceremonies proper to each category, prizes were awarded to the three most beautiful photographs from among all those in the competition.

The podium of absolute winners sees Spaniard Pepe Badia Marrero in first place, with his fascinating photograph "Goute à goute, " depicting a cardboard wasp intent on drinking a drop of water on its nest.

In second place, Davide Glarey from Valle d'Aosta distinguished himself with "Perfect Camouflage," a hidden portrait of snow-covered tawny owls facing a tree cavity.

In third place, Frenchman Jean Luc Viart captured the magical atmosphere with "L'Aiguille Doran dans la brume," a play of clouds and light at the foot of the acuminated pyramid of the Vanoise's Aiguille Doran.

The jury, faced with the high level of photographs in the competition and the difficulty of ranking them, pointed out eleven additional shots that stood out for quality and beauty.

After the awards ceremony, the winning and mentioned photos will be on display at the Fortress of Bard, Aosta Valley, from March 17 to April 14, 2024, offering an unprecedented opportunity for visibility for the photographers and Parks involved.
