Oasis in celebration: a month of events immersed in the nature of Italy

From April 25 to May 26, Italy will host more than 100 events and appointments, celebrating the richness of its biodiversity through the WWF Oasis Days.. Five special weekends will offer the opportunity to immerse oneself in our country's natural oases, with activities ranging from forest bathing to birdwatching, from citizen science to the discovery of fascinating animal species.

Saline di Trapani, Sicily

WWF Oases, places to defend and promote Italy's natural heritage, will open their doors throughout the country, from historic Burano in Tuscany, the first Oasis founded in 1967, to the Saline di Trapani in Sicily, where conservation is mixed with traditional salt production. These places not only preserve the history of iconic species such as the otter, Sardinian deer andMarsican brown bear, but also offer countless services that contribute to our well-being and the health of the ecosystem.

During these five extraordinary weekends, visitors will have the opportunity to take a forest bath among alpine trees, watch the sunset over coastal salt marshes, and discover fascinating animals with the help of expert guides. The proposed activities will range from hiking in the forests, along wild coastlines, to lakes and rivers, offering a unique experience of direct contact with nature.

But Oasis Days will not only be an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of Italian nature. In line with WWF's commitment to biodiversity conservation, an extraordinary fundraiser will be launched during this special month to protect an iconic and unique species: the Marsican brown bear, of which only 50-60 individuals survive in central Italy.

The program of activities varies from region to region, offering a wide range of experiences. In Emilia-Romagna, at the Ghirardi Oasis, visitors will be able to scan the skies in search of migratory birds, while in Tuscany, at the Lake Burano Oasis and the Orbetello Lagoon, there will be bike rides, exhibitions and workshops for the whole family.

In Sicily, at the Torre Salsa Oasis and Nature Reserve, you will be able to participate in ornithological excursions, while in Lombardy, at the Vanzago Oasis, you will witness the release of birds cared for by CRAS. From Abruzzo to Sardinia, from workshops to "forest bathing," there will be an activity to suit every taste and interest.

WWF Oases are not only places of conservation, but also educational and wildlife recovery centers involving hundreds of volunteers. With about 100 Oases scattered throughout Italy, the WWF Oasis System is a national treasure that attracts about 350,000 visitors each year, contributing positively to the local economy and environmental awareness.

In this month dedicated to nature, Oasis Days offers a unique opportunity to reconnect with our natural environment and contribute to its conservation.
