Forty-six countries open to visitors from May 10 for three consecutive weekends

Small is beautiful. More and more. In the year of "Italian Roots in the World," 46 Sicilian villages open the doors to hundreds of hidden treasures. From next May 10, for three consecutive weekends, you can go to discover traditions, routes, recipes, artisans. With Borghi dei tesori roots festival you will be able to listen to a concert in a hermitage at sunset or visit a marble quarry and descend into a cave full of stalagmites, or learn how to bake a traditional cake with the women of the village; and again, get lost among stucco lace, delicate bas-reliefs, Arab castles and fortified towers; go on trails, follow a former railway or reach a mysterious Sican town on the summit. And above all, discover the places and traditions that bear witness to emigration to Sicily: museums, convents, artisans, places of memory that build a bridge with the 8 million Siculo-descendants scattered around the world.
This year's "Borghi dei Tesori" festival not only anticipates its fourth edition to spring, the season when each of these 46 small towns is a riot of nature, but also ties in with the Year of Roots Tourism, a project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its territorial antenna, 'Italea Sicilia' led by Laura Anello, president of Le Vie dei Tesori Foundation, which presented 'Borghi dei tesori roots festival' at Palazzo dei Normanni, attended by, among others, Unipa Rector Massimo Midiri and Sasà Salvaggio, chosen as testimonial, one of the most beloved faces among the communities of Italians abroad.
The villages are: Alcara Li Fusi, Balestrate, Baucina, Bisacquino, Bompietro, Buccheri, Burgio, Calascibetta, Calatafimi Segesta, Caltabellotta, Cammarata, Camporeale, Centuripe, Cassaro, Chiusa Sclafani, Ciminna, Collesano, Contessa Entellina, Custonaci, Delia, Frazzanò, Gangi, Geraci Siculo, Isnello, Giarratana, Giuliana, Licodia Eubea, Mirto, Montelepre, Monterosso Almo, Montevago, Petralia Soprana, Petralia Sottana, Pettineo, Piedimonte Etneo, Pollina, Portopalo di Capo Passero, Prizzi, Sambuca di Sicilia, San Piero Patti, Santo Stefano Quisquina, Siculiana, Sutera, Trappeto, Valledolmo, Vallelunga Pratameno.
